Friday Freewrite #14 – “When it’s over…”

Friday-FreewriteWelcome back to the Friday Freewrite!

Here’s how it works:

  • I post a “JUMP LINE,” a short phrase that will serve as a writing prompt, each Friday.
  • YOU put pen to paper and write for 90 seconds. (I’ll do it, too, of course.)  Don’t think.  Don’t cross out.  (That is wise advise borrowed from Natalie Goldberg in Wild Mind.)  Just start with the prompt and see where it takes you.
  • Then POST YOUR RESPONSE as a comment.  (Just click the comment bubble  to the right of the post title to leave a reply.)

Are you ready? Let’s begin!

Today’s jump line:  When it’s over

See the comments below the post for responses.

Note to Writers Forum members in good standing: The newsletter editor will be perusing Friday Freewrite responses to publish in the newsletter.  If you DO NOT want your response printed, kindly indicate this in the comments.  We are happy to respect your wishes.  Happy writing!

  1. …it really isn’t. Because every ending is a beginning, layers overlapping, ebbing, rising, receding like surf on sand. Why we hold on when everything inevitably slides away from us is one of the continuing puzzles of the human condition. We are uncomfortable with change. It stretches us, and stretching hurts. But it is only when we stretch that we can see over obstacles, glimpse the horizon beyond the horizon…

  2. [This post was delayed because it wasn’t over yet!]

WHEN IT IS OVER, I will drink chamomile tea and sleep like Rip Van Winkle. When I awake, I will bake something warm and comforting. I may even finish my first novel.

But I will not hunt zombies, do my taxes or anyone else’s, because it is over. I survived Tax Season and its crazy last day.
